Japanese Speech Contest 2006 Preliminary

I missed the notice sent three days ago by the Japanese Association, Singapore informing me that I qualified for the semi-finals of the Japanese Speech Contest 2006, which was determined based on an original script submitted sometime ago.

Woohoo, now I just have to send in a recording of myself and soon I’ll be on my way to winning another DVD player… If you want to take a look at my script, read on…

Flamboyant

I finally got Crest to buy flamboyant, the artbook by Ugetsu Hakua (of Bakuretsu Tenshi fame). It’s my birthday present from him… four months late as it is. :P I love Ugetsu’s style. Bakuten makes up for most of the entries, but there are some unique original works by him as well as some pieces based on existing works (such as Saber from F/SN).

Flamboyant

I also picked up the latest issues of Newtype and Comptiq. Newtype came from a Fate/stay night booklet while Comptiq came with a Da Capo II pencil board. Ah, less than two weeks left till D.C. II… 楽しみ~

Gundam SEED Movie Wishlist

Well, Sunrise announced that a Gundam SEED movie is in the works about three days ago. Since they explicitly stated that it’s going to be a completely new work based on the same universe, we can probably assume (and hope) that it’s not going to be 2 hours of recap.

Anyway, I have some requests for Sunrise:

  1. Bring Stellar back.
  2. No Gundam F91 plskthxbye.
  3. Please do not try to “adapt” (i.e. screw up) an existing manga or novel.
  4. Don’t even think about letting T.M.Revolution voice another character.
  5. More Lacus is good.
  6. FictionJunction MAAYA… please?

Come on Sunrise. I’m not asking for a lot here. >_<

The Harem List v2006

Now as much as I dislike harem in my anime, I can’t help but join in this create-your-own-harem business started by certain indivduals who have more free time than even me… (imagine that)

Following the rules defined by the original post on AoMM (1. a limit of six characters, 2. compulsory inclusion of at least one maid, 3. twins and triplets count as one), in no particular order, we have…

1. Madoka Ayukawa (鮎川まどか) from Kimagure Orange Road. They don’t make anime girls like they used to. (Not that it’s a bad thing, just different)

Suzumiya Haruhi Continued

According to the end of episode 6 of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, episode 7 (episode 8 chronogically) will be 「ミステリックサイン」 (Mysteric Sign).

This confirms my prediciton that episode 8 comes from the middle of book 3, which was between either the chapter 「笹の葉ラプソディ」 (Sasanoha Rhapsody) or 「ミステリックサイン」 (Mysteric Sign).

Now if everything follows, the anime shouldn’t go beyond the fourth novel, which may mean a possible sequel…?

April Purchases

Exams are finally over. Woohoo. Well I still have a Computer Elective paper on Monday, but that doesn’t count.

Anyway, I’ve been quite broke since I placed that preorder for Da Capo II… so I’ve been curbing (or at least trying to curb) my spending for April.

$$$

  • School Rumble Guide Book – Treasure File
  • School Rumble Vol. 12
  • Suzuka Vol. 11 Limited Edition
  • Suzumiya Haruhi novels 1 to 4
  • Mahou Sensei Negima! Vol. 14 Limited Edition

Negima! Vol. 14 Limited Edition came with a nice fake-leathery book cover that fits all Kodansha tankoubon, which is great because I always destroy my books. Of course the limited edition also cost about 3 times the normal price but that’s besides the point.

Suzuka Vol. 11 was good, really good. I can’t wait till the next volume. The limited edition bonus consists of 2 special cover designs and 2 postcards. The sad thing is that they didn’t include the normal cover… Well the normal cover sucks anyway. (Yasunobu + Whatsherface? Yuck)

See, I didn’t spend much for April… Other than those books, it’s just my regular monthly issues of Comptiq and Newtype, my preorder for Da Capo II, my preorder on CDJapan for Maaya Sakamoto’s new single and D.C.II OP-ED single and my preorder for this and this (Saber <3)…

……Okay, maybe I fail at this money-saving business. But hey, this is still nothing compared to moyism. (hint: those numbers are in USD)

And yes, he is my role model in life. XD

P.S. I want to preorder this too.

O……|ï¿£|_

Suzumiya Haruhi Plot Predictions

Haruhiism!

Ok, this blog is rapidly turning into a Suzumiya Haruhi fansite. But it’s okay. Anyway, I have mid-year exams this week so I’ll probably be disappearing for a while.

But before I go, does anyone still remember the predictions I made in my first entry about Haruhi?

After watching the last episode and some discussions in the SOS-dan IRC channel, I have come up with a comprehensive episode/story prediction for the anime.

Everything beyond episode 07 (by air order) is purely speculation based current episodes and the novels. If source of episode is not given, then it is from the first novel.

Predictions after the jump.

Suzumiya Haruhi Explained in Detail

After watching episode 4 with two different friends (neither has read the novels) on two seperate occasions today, I have decided to explain the entire length of the episode for those of you who are, to put it mildly, somewhat confused right now.

Haruhi~~

According to Kyon at the start of the episode, this baseball match takes place about a month after the founding of the SOS-dan. As the episode title implies, it actually takes place in the third novel, whereas the previous episode and episode 5 that is airing next week take place during the span of the first novel. This is why Itsuki is in the club and also why a lot of the things are left unexplained. Yes, the producers are playing with your mind.

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

Now be warned that this is a FULL SPOILER for everything that took place in the first novel, which is essential to understanding all of the subsequent novels and events (including the one shown in episode 4). Episode 5 will pick up from where episode 3 left off, which means that all the spoilers I am about to give will eventually be covered in the anime series.

But for those of you who can’t wait till next week, read on for the explanation of episode 4.

Warning: Spoilers Beyond This Point!
