New KimiNozo anime in the works

Today, 27/8, was Mitsuki Hayase’s birthday. Age-soft held an event to celebrate it. Yes in Japan, even eroge characters get their birthdays celebrated! :3

According to Moon Phase, an announcement for a new Kimi ga Nozomu Eien anime was made during the event.

アージュ、特報 「君が望む永遠 “遙ルート”」 アニメ化決定！！

今日のイベントでも正式発表された模様。まだ 「君望」 で引っ張りますか。「あゆまゆ劇場」 のネット配信アニメは、てっきり 「マブラヴ」 アニメ化への布石かと思ってたんだけど、こっちと連動した企画だったようで。

From Age: New “Kimi ga Nozomu Eien – Haruka’s route” anime confirmed!

This was officially announced during today’s event. Although it had been speculated that the “Ayu Mayu Theatre” anime distributed on the offical site was part of the preparation towards a Muv-Luv anime, it turned out to be another KimiNozo project.

I hate Haruka. I love the ending of the first series. God, why did they have to announce it on Mitsuki’s birthday? :( The irony, it burns…

Still, more Mitsuki and more Akane is good. <3

Apparently from what I have heard (not currently confirmed), the new anime will be an OVA series and it will take place in an alternate timeline where Haruka did not get knocked down by a van. (What the fuck? How is that KimiNozo anymore?)

The Making of RIUVA

I spent this afternoon observing tj han, figurine collector and critic, at work. As you may know if you read his blog RIUVA, tj han has a habit of taking pictures of his figurine purchases from every possible angle and comment about every minute defect that may or may not exist (“zomg her hair is 1mm too long! BLASPHEMY!”).

I am of course just kidding, but basically tj han spends a good deal of time looking for locations to take those pictures for his and your lewd viewing pleasures. Well I was present for a rare chance to observe the master at work in front of the National Museum today (uh…yeah) and here are the pictures!

If you follow any tech blog you would no doubt have heard of the term “The Long Tail” before. It’s not an entirely new concept but it’s gaining more and more media coverage in recent years due to the success that first-generation “long tailers” such as Amazon and Google are enjoying.

I missed it the first time it was released and regreted my decision, but luckily for me (and unfortunately for my wallet), Alter has recently re-released its 1/8 Meg from Bakuretsu Tenshi in all her yellow-pantsu glory.

Anyway, before you go wtf over it, it’s a joke. Weird Al is not the latest propangada machine of the RIAA. In fact if you visit his MySpace page, you’ll be able to play and download his song “You’re Pitiful”, a parody of the popular “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt.

James Blunt gave his approval for the parody but his record label didn’t. Weird Al decides to screw the suits and release the song for free through the internet.

“I have a long-standing history of respecting artists’ wishes,” Yankovic writes. “So if James Blunt himself were objecting, I wouldn’t even offer my parody for free on my Web site. But since it’s a bunch of suits — who are actually going against their own artist’s wishes — I have absolutely no problem with it.”

And that is an artist that deserves respect.

Rozen Maiden ~Oubertüre announced for winter

According to Moon Phase Zakki, a new Rozen Maiden anime will air in the winter season.

Internet Explorer: The Fall of a Giant

I was looking at the visitor statistics for this site in Awstats yesterday when I noticed this…

As you can see from the above rudimentary table that took all of 10 seconds to create in Microsoft Excel, Firefox-ko is now kicking IE’s sorry butt! At least amongst anime fans, whom I presume to be the largest demographic represented by this chart.

At the rate it’s going, we might just see a complete reverse of the July 2004 statistics in about two years.

EDIT: The aliens prefer Firefox too.

涼宮ハルヒの誘悦

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuetsu is a 18-kin doujin AVG that was sold during Comiket 70 for 1000 yen. You can find it in shops like Toranoana for 1200 yen. 誘悦 (yuuetsu) is a wordplay of 愉悦 (yuetsu), or “joy”, by replacing 愉 (“happiness”) with 誘 (”temptation”). I’ll leave the rest to your imagination…
