Graphite 2008

Hi guys. This is a competition for Singaporean artists (or those who think they are artists anyway), so if you are one of the 6 billion people who don’t live on this tiny island, then stop reading and go watch Macross Frontier 23.

Anime Festival Asia

As part of the previously-mentioned AFA08, NUS Comics Animation Society is organizing Graphite 2008, an illustration competition. There are two categories: Character Design (i.e. well-exposed moé girls or homoerotic bishounens), and Short Story Manga (i.e. complicated in-jokes that no one but the author and two other fan girls understand.)

Deadline is 28th September 2008. Refer to official website for more information.

Do you know that graphite carbon atoms are sp2 hybridized and are weakly bonded between layers of macromolecular covalent structures?

Code Geass R2 — Episode 22

Code Geass R2
“ICHI-JOU!”

It’s cool that Lelouch is all anti-hero and I-am-the-boss now, but there’s just something wrong about this whole situation. Too-busy-for-haircuts Charles was a much more interesting antagonist than pretty-boy Schneizel, mainly because Norio Wakamoto is also the voice behind Onsokumaru and that hard-boiled penguin from Gunparade Orchestra.

Code Geass R2 — Episode 21

Code Geass R2
Loli’er Anya

The Big Revelation episode. I can’t say that it comes as a surprise considering how much the story has hinted at it, especially since I was never really convinced that Charles was evil. He lacks Schneizel’s eyes, and that hairdo is just begging to be not taken seriously.

I’m sure everyone has already watched the episode by now, so I will not try to work around the spoilers this time, since the entire episode is basically one huge spoiler.

Code Geass R2 — Episode 20

Code Geass R2
Serious Lelouch is serious

Not a particularly exciting episode, but Marianne finally makes an appearance, sort of. I can’t imagine how this is all going to end. For one thing, I don’t see any role for Kallen in the grand finale that’s being played out between the old man, the ambitious elder brother, and that good-for-nothing son who likes to play dress-up. :(

Macross Frontier – Lion / Northern Cross

Lion

Macross Frontier has become one of the few joys left in my life, that and Team Fortress 2. Exams are just around the corner and I don’t have time to do much else. How I miss the carefree days of WoWing away the weekends. Anyway, the new OP/ED single is finally here! It’s awesome! And episode 20 was awesome too! Diamond Crevasse has received a sentimental power up. Sheryl is back. <3

Also, lyrics transliteration/translation for Lion and Northern Cross are up.

P.S. Tony Taka’s C74 release “Nanto Iu Deculture!” is a Macross F release. It’s a bit Ranka-heavy due to his preference for lolis, but the art is really nice. I can’t show you the rest of it because this blog is self-rated NC-16.

Code Geass R2 — Episode 19

Code Geass R2
Everything is just fine

Shit hits the fan. Big time. This is not your usual run-of-the-mill rotary cooling device-feces collision; it’s more like if Godzilla takes the mother of all dump on an Airbus A380’s Engine Alliance GP7000 turbofan jet engine, while you, the unfortunate witness, are standing literally five metres away minding your own business one moment and covered with radioactive lizard waste the next.

That said, it is a pretty good episode. The emo level is higher than 9000 pale teenagers simultaneously slitting their wrists the wrong way.

Code Geass R2 — Episode 18

Code Geass R2
A cute Valkyrie pilot you will never see again

Some episodes of Code Geass brings enlightenment, others bring fanservice. Some have intricate story telling, others help to bring characters to life. This episode does none of the above. However, it is easily one of the most awesome episodes ever. It takes the extravagant route and fulminates with the incandescence of a great gross luminous celestial plasma balls. Yes, it has tons of explosions.

Code Geass R2 — Episode 17

Code Geass R2

I don’t have time to blog much about this episode. Not that there’s much to blog about. It’s just the chickens coming home to roost. Poor Lelouch. He is so misunderstood. :(

Code Geass R2 — Episode 16

Code Geass R2

Episode 16 is a delightful episode because Kallen gets to kick ass and C.C. has transformed into a Mikuru-class moé powerhouse. *Puppy eyes* Well, there are various other interesting happenings in this episode too, but I think we should all pay much respect to the amount of effort spent by Sunrise in animating C.C.’s shy disposition to adorable perfection.
