Gadget Tsuushin (getnews.jp) has made some tongue-in-cheek predictions about what will happen now that the Tokyo Metropolitan legislation restricting sales of certain targeted manga and anime has been passed.

Translated:
- Digitization of manga
- Distribution of underground manga and anime
- Osamu Akimoto (author of Kochikame) will write an ironic manga instead (one where according to him, “Ryou-san, the main character in Kochikame, leads an ordinary life”)
- Other manga artist will follow suit
- A new entity similar to CERO for video games will be set up for anime and manga, and for some reason it will provide amakudari jobs for retired officials
- Protest demonstrations will take place
- Kadokawa, Shueisha and the other companies will host anime events in Saitama or Chiba (prefectures near Tokyo)
- Korean comics and animation will gain in popularity
- There will be doujin adaptations of (Tokyo Governor) Shintarou Ishihara’s novels (which are said to be quite raunchy)
- The law will affect not only anime and comics but also regular and 18+ video games
- For some reason, novels are not affected
- In order to circumvent the law, there will be new hybrid productions that combine live photography with anime, similar to the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit
- Publishers and distributors will move their offices out of Tokyo
- Online anime and manga will also be restricted

Personally I am most amused by the Roger Rabbit suggestion. It may just be crazy enough to work.
At least this only affects Tokyo, right? As long as companies such as Shueisha move away, the industry itself shouldn’t change much. Personally, I think that some Korean works are very good and would like to see them gain popularity.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit style porn? FUND IT.
Yes but Tokyo is a huge market. If your book can’t be sold in Tokyo outside of the 18+ corners, then it may be commercially not viable to fund its creation in the first place.
I second the motion for Ishihara niji-sousaku rape doujinshi. Ideally they should be distributed openly in Shinjuku, nihonbashi, and places with lots of ippanjin. The idea about circumventing the law is very interesting though.. imagine a harem anime where all the girls are 2D but the guy is an actor, with the anime girls overlay-ed over the filming… hmm…
The roger rabbit idea won’t work. Cartoon Network tried to sell it to kids and failed hard. That movie probably got like 1 out of 10 stars. I forget the name of the movie because it is totally not memorable. But, roger rabbit was great in its day; however, it doesn’t work as well anymore just because how much the graphics have changed.
I suspect you have already read it, but in the off case you haven’t, I believe that that post would be interesting to you (about a doujin that protests against bill 156): http://dankanemitsu.wordpress.com/2010/12/26/monkey-business-counterattack-on-bill-156-doujin-style/
Thank you for almost every other superb publish. Where in addition may just any person wardrobe type of information in their normal excellent approach regarding producing? I get a speech next week, using this program . with the search for like facts.
