Various hobby websites put up preorders for the second batch of Max Factory 1/8 Haruhi today. The first batch of 5000 units is due for release in February and the preorders, online and offline at Akihabara, were gone in a matter of hours. The second batch was put up today and is due for release in April.
And once again, preorders ended at record speed. I think we can all agree that Haruhi is awesome and this happens to be the most accurate representation of her awesomeness so far, making it one of the most awesome-nest figures ever. To misquote the late Winston Churchill, never in the history of human conflict entertainment has so many fapped so hard to so few.

Your best hope now is to keep refreshing CDJapan because they have yet to start taking orders for the new batch. Alternatively, pray for HLJ.
P.S. I ordered two from HLJ for the first batch. I hope they are able to fulfil the orders…
I wonder how many of these orders are backup orders in case the original order can’t be filled? I ordered from Hobby Search and HLJ to increase my odds of getting one pre-order filled. If I get lucky and get both filled, I’m sure finding a home for the second Haruhi will be no problem. I wonder how many batches of 5,000 they’ll make?
I say a lot. This is simply too good for Max Factory not to milk the maximum amount of cash they can get from us poor fans ;)
Of course, but the problem is that they can’t milk it fast enough and Haruhi fanboys like me can’t wait that long.
The second batch is due for April. That means it’s going to be at least June for the third batch. That’s more than half a year away!
I’ll probably have to wait for the 2nd batch.
Well I’m pretty sure I got in the first batch with HLJ and it has been confirmed in my order list, but I get this feeling I’ll be pushed back. But if it happens it happens.

It’s actually not Haruhi that is awesome. It is Yuki. People just buy Haruhi to make up the numbers so they can display her behind Yuki in a diorama.

I preordered mine from HLJ a couple of days ago. But I’m seeing “Future Release” in my order list in the stock status. Does that mean I’m screwed for the first batch?

I mean, just getting the LE R2 DVDs is gonna cost like 480USD. If there was ever a R2 box set, it “may” be cheaper but probably not by much.

YesAsia are really shitty about figure pre-orders IME.
Even with something with plenty available, a couple of times now i’ve pre-ordered and had status change to ‘searching for stock’ or something on release day, and then expected ship date slip back and back, and then the item never coming into stock.

And the less hard-core Haruhiists like me will probably end up squabbling over the leftovers…Even if they put out a third batch…
